ANDREW “AUGUSTA” SMITH

Andrew ‘Augusta’ Smith is a multi-medium designer and artist based in Phoenix Arizona, primarily focused on ceramic vessels. Native to Edgefield County South Carolina, Augusta uses his background in production scale ceramics and traditional functional forms from his home county along with his engineering research discipline to produce wares ranging from precise vessels and tablewares, to brutalist expressionist sculpture, and many in-between. His current personal body of work focuses on capturing the temporary environment of an atmospheric kiln on the perpetual surface of a ceramic form, and the correlating collaboration of clay body formulation and ash in those atmospheres. He combines aspects of forms from historical ceramics native to his home with modern interpretations of balance, design and surface treatment, combining influences from the far east to the southwest.

CALLING ALL ANGELS

The artists at Calling All Angels create one-of-a-kind angel sculptures. Each angel is hand-crafted. No two angels are alike. Each angel is symbolic of an "Angel's Kiss" because we all need a warm embrace and the comfort of hope in difficult times. Perhaps we just need a guardian angel to watch over us for all the challenges yet to come. Your angel will pick you. Just browse around.... we guarantee you will know which angel belongs to you; which angel will be your "Kiss" or the "Kiss" to give.

JOHN HOYT

John was born in Texas and later attended high school in Glendale, Arizona. He was exposed to the wonder and beauty of wilderness from an early age. His father instilled in him a deep respect for nature and the wild through hiking and camping. He fell in love with his wife Melissa and after high school they moved to Hawaii. He found employment as a skilled contractor, fisherman, surfer and ocean diver. In 2003 the couple was blessed with a child, Ryder. For 20 years they lived an idyllic life immersed in the Hawaiian culture with a powerful connection to the islands. Injury and resulting recovery necessitated the decision to return to Arizona and family. However, misfortune often begets opportunity and while exploring the beautiful mountains of Prescott, Arizona an artist was discovered, the idea of creating art from downed burl wood took form.
