The Art of Perception: A Sensory Wine Salon

If Galerie de FLEUR celebrates the visual arts, The Art of Perception explores the art of taste.

Presented by James V. Monaci, FLEUR's Founding Wine Ambassador, this intimate sensory wine salon was created to deepen the connection between wine, art, and human perception. More than a traditional tasting, it invited guests to discover how memory, aroma, texture, environment, and emotion shape the way we experience wine.

Guided by Monaci's decades of experience in the world of wine, guests explored a thoughtfully curated selection of exceptional wines while learning to engage all of their senses. The salon encouraged participants to slow down, observe, and appreciate the subtle characteristics that distinguish every vintage, revealing that wine is not simply something to taste, but something to experience.

Like the finest European salons, The Art of Perception blended education with conversation. Questions became discussions, stories accompanied every pour, and each glass offered an opportunity to better understand the history, craftsmanship, and cultural traditions behind the wines.

Although attendance during FLEUR's inaugural weekend was affected by the Pocket Fire and the resulting travel disruptions throughout the Sedona region, the salon exemplified the festival's commitment to creating intimate experiences that educate as much as they inspire.

More than a wine seminar, The Art of Perception established the educational foundation of FLEUR's wine programming. It reflected the festival's belief that exceptional wine deserves thoughtful presentation, meaningful conversation, and the opportunity to connect people through shared discovery.

As FLEUR grows, The Art of Perception will continue as a signature salon, inviting guests to explore the relationship between wine, culture, craftsmanship, and the senses under the guidance of James V. Monaci. It stands as a reminder that the finest wines are not merely tasted, but how they are perceived.
